Spending time in a random Italian village, and invited out to join the village celebration, Sophie and Glen witnessed a community bound together by food, four generations of men at the communal pizza oven.  Small children darting in and out of their fathers’ legs helping put the toppings on, brothers and fathers stretching the dough and the grandfathers using their wisdom to stoke the oven and cook the pizzas, which were then scooted out by the women to feed the entire town.  When asked what the celebration was in aid of they were greeted with a quizzical look, “It’s Friday” was the reply.

Food is often found at the centre of all social bonding, it feeds the soul and nourishes the body. 

Glen has over 25 years experience in the industry, starting out as a sought after front of house staff with his quick wit and ability to make anyone who walked through the door laugh and feel instantly comfortable, to owning his own successful restaurant in Hawthorn which the Good Food Guide 2012 said "for friendliness and soul-warming food, you might well have stepped into an old friend's kitchen" - which really sums up Glen and how he wants all of his customers to feel. 

For the last fifteen years Glen has been in the Chef game, learning from his time in the kitchens of chefs such as Rick Stein, George Columbaris, and Andrew Blake.

Since then he's worked as a Head Chef, running kitchens at Yatch Clubs, Breweries, and other such establishments. 

Glen loves flavour forward food that presents naturally with a focus on local produce, classic technique and moreish eatability.  His more whacky ideas are kept in check by his wonderful wife who leads the taste testing team along with his two (mostly) adorable children; the reason he left his career in restaurants and the inspiration to provide other families with great quality affordable eating made from scratch with whole foods and love (and a little salt and butter).
